Tragic Stabbing During Tahajjud Prayer in Kaduna

​On March 21, 2025, during the Tahajjud (night) prayers at Layin Bilya, Makwa Road in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State, a group of armed hoodlums attacked worshippers, resulting in the tragic death of Usman Mohammed, a 28-year-old man.

The assailants, identified as being from the Malalin Gabas, Tudun Wada, Rafin Guza, and Unguwar Baduko areas, stormed the mosque around 2 a.m., disrupting the prayers and causing chaos among the worshippers. In the ensuing commotion, Mohammed was fatally stabbed.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, police operatives, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, swiftly responded to the scene. Their prompt action led to the arrest of 12 suspects, who have since confessed to participating in the attack. Several weapons were also recovered from the suspects.

The Kaduna State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation to uncover the details of the incident and ensure that justice is served.

This attack has sent shockwaves through the Rigasa community, with residents calling for increased security measures to protect worshippers and prevent future occurrences. The tragic loss of Usman Mohammed has left his family and the community in mourning.​
