Voters Can Earn Cash from Musk for Petition Against Judges
Elon Musk’s political action committee (PAC), America PAC, is offering Wisconsin voters $100 to sign a petition opposing “activist judges.” This initiative comes ahead of the state’s pivotal Supreme Court election on April 1, featuring candidates Susan Crawford, backed by Democrats, and Brad Schimel, preferred by Republicans. The election’s outcome could influence critical issues such as abortion rights, legislative redistricting, and election laws in Wisconsin.
The petition criticizes judges who “impose their own views” and advocates for a judiciary that interprets laws as written. It reflects recent criticisms by Musk and President Trump toward federal judges perceived as hindering their agendas.
Additionally, America PAC offers an extra $100 for each person a signer refers to the petition. This strategy mirrors tactics Musk employed during the 2024 presidential election to promote free speech.
However, legal experts express concerns that offering cash incentives for petition signatures may violate Wisconsin state laws. An election lawyer noted that such payments could potentially be illegal under state statutes
This move underscores Musk’s alignment with President Trump’s efforts to challenge judges deemed obstructive to their political objectives. It also highlights the increasing involvement of high-profile figures in state-level judicial elections, raising questions about the influence of money in the judiciary’s independence.
