Eko Electric Worker Dies from Electrocution in Lagos

​A 42-year-old staff member of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) was electrocuted on March 17, 2025, while performing maintenance work in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State. The incident occurred around 8:15 pm at Borno Way by Ayodele Junction, where the technician was addressing faulty electrical wires.

According to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the victim was promptly rescued and transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Ebute Metta. Unfortunately, upon arrival, medical personnel pronounced him dead.

Law enforcement officials have conducted a thorough examination of the scene and have deposited the body at the hospital’s morgue for an autopsy.
