Fubara's Return: First Public Appearance Post-Suspension

Breaking: Fubara Emerges in Public Following Suspension

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, made his first public appearance on Sunday, March 23, 2025, following his suspension from office. He attended a service at Salvation Ministries’ headquarters in GRA, Port Harcourt, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and other associates.

Fubara’s appearance comes days after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State on March 19, citing escalating political tensions and security concerns. This declaration led to the suspension of Fubara, his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. In their place, President Tinubu appointed Ibok-Ete Ibas as the Sole Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs for an initial period of six months.

During the church service, Fubara was warmly received by a senior pastor and participated in special prayers. His attendance at the service dispelled speculations about his whereabouts since the suspension.

The state of emergency and subsequent suspension of the state’s executive and legislative arms have elicited mixed reactions from political stakeholders, legal practitioners, and civil society groups.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has commenced his duties, including holding emergency security meetings and inspecting ongoing projects to ensure stability in governance.
