Chocolate Covered Heroin: NDLEA’s Major Drug Seizure in Kano

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recently made significant drug seizures in Nigeria:

Arrest of Indian National with Heroin at Kano Airport

On March 23, 2025, NDLEA operatives apprehended Ms. Neetu Neetu, a 42-year-old Indian woman, at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano. She was found in possession of 72 parcels of heroin, ingeniously concealed within wafer wraps and packaged to resemble chocolates. This method highlights the evolving tactics employed by drug traffickers to evade detection.

Discovery of Tramadol Hidden in Gas Cylinder

In a separate operation, NDLEA agents intercepted a 50-liter steel gas cylinder containing 50,000 pills of Tramadol (225mg). The cylinder had been meticulously modified to house the concealed drugs, underscoring the lengths traffickers will go to smuggle illicit substances.

Additional Seizures in Kano

Further enforcement actions in Kano led to the arrest of:

  • Sunday Ogar, 40, apprehended in the Gunduwawa area with 27 kilograms of skunk, a potent cannabis strain.
  • Khadijah Abdullahi, 40, detained in the Lungun Bulala Yalwa area with 424 bottles of codeine-based syrup, a substance often misused for its narcotic effects.

These operations reflect NDLEA’s ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking and misuse across Nigeria, employing vigilant surveillance and enforcement strategies to address the nation’s drug challenges.
