Lead Petitioner’s Phone Number Insufficient for Recall
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has raised concerns regarding the petition submitted for the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.
In a statement released on March 25, 2025, INEC highlighted that the petition lacked essential contact details of the petitioners, providing only the telephone number of ‘the lead petitioner’ and an indefinite address listed as “Okene, Kogi State.”
According to INEC’s regulations, a valid recall petition must include comprehensive contact information for all representatives of the petitioners to facilitate communication throughout the process. The absence of these details hinders INEC’s ability to proceed with the verification of signatures and other necessary steps in the recall procedure.
INEC has urged the petitioners to provide the required contact information to enable the commission to advance the recall process in accordance with legal and procedural guidelines.
