Oby Ezekwesili Confronts Senator Nwaebonyi in Senate Hearing
A heated confrontation occurred during a Senate Committee hearing on March 25, 2025, involving Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi and former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili.
The incident took place during the committee’s investigation into allegations of sexual harassment made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
During the session, tensions escalated when Dr. Ezekwesili intervened, leading Senator Nwebonyi to interrupt her. In response, Dr. Ezekwesili advised the senator to “compose yourself and stop making noise.” This exchange prompted Senator Nwebonyi to make derogatory remarks towards Dr. Ezekwesili, calling her an “insult to womanhood” and a “hooligan.”
A video of the altercation has been widely circulated on social media, capturing the intensity of the exchange.
Dr. Ezekwesili attended the hearing in support of Senator Natasha, who had recently been suspended for six months following a confrontation with Senate President Akpabio during a plenary session.
