Not Owned by PDP, Claims Wike's Aide

Wike’s Aide Asserts Wadata Plaza Isn’t PDP Property

The ownership of Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, has recently come under scrutiny. An aide to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has asserted that the property does not legally belong to the PDP. This claim is linked to the revocation of the land title for Wadata Plaza due to the party’s alleged failure to pay ground rent for 28 years.

Reports indicate that the PDP had been renting Wadata Plaza for years before purchasing the property in Wuse Zone 5. In 2008, the party initiated the construction of a new national secretariat but abandoned the project after losing federal power in 2015.

The recent revocation of the land title by the FCT Administration has led to tensions between the PDP and Minister Wike. The PDP’s National Working Committee has expressed strong opposition to the revocation, viewing it as an attempt to stifle opposition.
