Tragic Attack: Lakurawa Terrorist Group Claims 15 Lives in Kebbi

Tragic Incident in Kebbi: Terrorists Claim Three Lives

On March 25, 2025, suspected Lakurawa terrorists attacked Bachaka, a border community in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the deaths of two Nigerian Customs Service officers and a local resident. The specific units of the slain officers have not yet been identified. The attack occurred shortly after security forces had neutralized two members of the Lakurawa group in the region.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Sani Bello, visited the scene and emphasized the commitment of security agencies to combatting such criminal activities. He suggested that these attacks indicate the group’s desperation due to sustained security operations.

The Lakurawa group, reportedly affiliated with extremist organizations in the Sahel region, has been active in Northern Nigeria, particularly in Sokoto and Kebbi states. Initially formed as a self-defense group against banditry, it has evolved into a more radical and oppressive organization over time.
