Nweke’s Bold Claims: Fubara’s Plot Against the Government
Former Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, has accused suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of orchestrating the 2023 bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex to prevent his impeachment by lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Dr. Nwaeke claimed to have witnessed a bag of money being handed over to Edison Ehie, a former leader of the Assembly and Fubara’s Chief of Staff, to carry out the attack.
He further alleged that there were plans to destroy the residential quarters of the House of Assembly members, which were thwarted by interventions from local youths, elders, and National Assembly members.
Governor Fubara has denied these allegations, describing them as “laughable” and urging the public to disregard them. He suggested that Dr. Nwaeke has been compromised and is attempting to discredit his administration.
These allegations add to the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, where power struggles between key political figures have led to accusations and counter-accusations.
