Young Scooter Shot and Killed by Atlanta Police on Birthday

Atlanta Police Involved in Young Scooter’s Fatal Shooting

Atlanta rapper Young Scooter, born Kenneth Edward Bailey, tragically passed away on his 39th birthday, March 28, 2025, following a fatal injury sustained while fleeing from police.

Authorities responded to reports of gunshots and a woman being forcibly taken into a residence in southeast Atlanta. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact, but a man at the residence quickly shut the door. Subsequently, two men fled from the back of the house; one returned inside, while the other, identified as Bailey, attempted to escape by jumping over two fences. During this attempt, Bailey sustained a severe leg injury.

Police discovered Bailey on the other side of the fence and provided immediate medical assistance before transporting him to Grady Marcus Trauma Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have clarified that Bailey’s injury was self-inflicted during the escape and not the result of any police action.

Young Scooter was renowned for his contributions to the Atlanta hip-hop scene, gaining prominence with his 2012 mixtape “Street Lottery” and its hit single “Colombia.” Throughout his career, he collaborated with notable artists such as Future, Young Thug, and Juicy J.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed Bailey’s death, and an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause. The incident remains under investigation.
