Replacing Fubara: A Dangerous Trend, Says Audu Ogbeh

Audu Ogbeh Warns: Fubara Replacement Risks Fairness

Former Minister of Agriculture and ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Audu Ogbeh, has expressed concern over the recent appointment of retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator of Rivers State, following the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ogbeh cautioned that appointing former military officials to replace civilian governors during states of emergency could undermine confidence in civilian leadership and suggest a preference for military rule.

Ogbeh emphasized the need for caution in declaring states of emergency, highlighting the potential for such actions to create divisions and leave affected communities feeling unfairly treated. He advocated for diplomatic solutions and the engagement of respected elders and community leaders to mediate political crises before resorting to drastic measures.
