Hisbah Officials Attacked: Five Injured in Katsina Incident
In the early hours of March 29, 2025, a violent incident occurred in the Kofar Kaura Quarters of Katsina State, where Hisbah officials were attacked during an enforcement operation. The officials had been dispatched around 2:30 a.m. to disperse a group of youths playing football near a mosque conducting Tahajjud (night prayers).
Upon arrival, the youths resisted and chased the Hisbah personnel away. During the confrontation, Alhaji Surajo Mai Asharalle allegedly fired multiple shots from a locally made cut-to-size gun, injuring five Hisbah officials: Aminu Musa Yari, Muhammad Ibrahim, Yau Musa Ingawa, Kabir Abdullahi, and Mustapha Isa.
Additionally, two vehicles—a blue Peugeot 206 and a Mercedes C180—parked at the scene sustained severe damage. The Katsina State Police Command responded promptly, arresting the primary suspect, Alhaji Surajo Mai Asharalle, along with three accomplices, and recovering the firearm used in the attack.
The injured officials were transported to General Hospital Katsina and subsequently referred to the Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina for advanced medical care.
