N5 Billion Bribe Offered to Impeach Fubara – Edison Ehie

Edison Ehie Reveals N5 Billion Bribe for Fubara’s Impeachment

Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that he was offered a ₦5 billion bribe to initiate impeachment proceedings against the governor. Speaking on Channels Television’s “Sunday Politics,” Ehie stated that in early October 2023, while serving as Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, he was approached with the bribe offer, which he documented and has since distributed for safety.

Ehie refrained from naming the individuals behind the bribery attempt but indicated that the offer was made during his tenure as Majority Leader. This revelation comes amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, marked by a power struggle between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Additionally, Ehie addressed allegations from former Head of Service George Nwaeke, who accused him of orchestrating the October 2023 bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex. Ehie denied involvement, stating he was unaware of the incident until after it occurred, and has instructed his lawyers to file a criminal libel lawsuit against Nwaeke.
