PDP’s Women Leadership Shakeup: Assistant Resigns

​Margaret Ekpeyong Okon, the Assistant State Woman Leader for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River South Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the party. Her departure comes just 48 hours after Emana Amawhe, the PDP’s deputy governorship candidate for the 2024 general elections, also stepped down from the party.

In her resignation letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of Edem Odo Ward, Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State, Okon expressed gratitude for the opportunities and experiences she gained while serving the party. She highlighted her progression from a ward executive member to councillor, and most recently, as a member of the state executive council and assistant state woman leader for the South.

Okon’s resignation is part of a series of notable departures within the Cross River State chapter of the PDP, indicating significant political shifts in the region. As of now, she has not publicly disclosed her future political plans or affiliations
