
21 Kidnapped Victims Rescued by Police, N4.8m Recovered
The Nigeria Police Force has recently conducted a series of operations resulting in the rescue of 21 kidnapped individuals and the recovery of ₦4.8 million in ransom payments, along with arms and ammunition.
In Taraba State, on March 29, 2025, police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, responded to a kidnapping incident at Muji Town along the Takum/Mararaba road. A fierce gun battle ensued, leading to the rescue of 20 kidnapped victims and the recovery of abandoned vehicles at the scene. Two of the victims sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical care.
In a separate operation in Kano State, following the March 8, 2025, kidnapping of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau, police conducted a meticulous investigation that culminated in the arrest of five suspects: Tukur Lawal (also known as Maikudi), Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuaibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim. Authorities recovered a locally made rifle and ₦4,840,000 in cash, believed to be ransom money. Dr. Yushau was rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.
Additionally, operatives from the Special Tactical Squad (STS) arrested Kafinta Musa from Taraba State for involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of firearms. An AK49 rifle loaded with five rounds of live ammunition was seized during the arrest. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of his criminal syndicate.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the officers involved in these operations for their bravery and professionalism.
