Kristoffer Olsson’s Health Crisis: Contract End at 29
Former Arsenal midfielder Kristoffer Olsson has mutually terminated his contract with Danish club FC Midtjylland following a diagnosis of a rare brain condition. In February 2024, Olsson collapsed at his home and was subsequently hospitalized, where doctors identified multiple small blood clots in his brain caused by an extremely rare inflammation of the cerebral arteries.
During his recovery, Olsson focused on regaining motor control and speech abilities. In March 2025, he and FC Midtjylland agreed to part ways, allowing him to return to his hometown of Norrköping, Sweden, to be closer to family and continue rehabilitation.
Olsson has expressed a strong desire to resume his football career and plans to train with his former club, IFK Norrköping. He remains optimistic about returning to professional play, stating, “Every week I feel progress, and I’m hungrier and more motivated than ever.”
Throughout his career, Olsson has played for clubs including Arsenal, AIK, Krasnodar, Anderlecht, and FC Midtjylland. He has also earned 47 caps for the Swedish national team since his debut in 2017.
