Senator Abbo: No One Recalls Natasha from Senate

Senator Abbo on Natasha: A Forgotten Figure in Senate

Former Senator Elisha Abbo has asserted that the recall process initiated against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is fraudulent and destined to fail. Speaking on Arise News Channel’s PrimeTime show, Abbo criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s handling of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension, labeling it as politically biased and heavy-handed.

He highlighted that Akpabio’s actions, including suspending Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months, withdrawing her security, halting her salary, and barring her from the National Assembly premises, were excessive and exposed her to potential harm.

Abbo also referenced a past incident involving Akpabio and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, suggesting that similar disputes had been resolved more maturely without such severe repercussions. He questioned the legitimacy of the recall efforts against Akpoti-Uduaghan, alleging that signatures were forged and emphasizing that “nobody can recall Natasha.”

In response, Akpoti-Uduaghan has accused Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of orchestrating the recall process using individuals wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). She expressed gratitude to her constituents for their support and reaffirmed her commitment to representing their interests.

The situation has drawn attention from various quarters, with media mogul Dele Momodu urging Akpabio to seek a peaceful resolution, stating that “it is not every battle you must fight and win.”
