FCT Minister Wike Hosts Rivers Lawmakers for Dinner in UK

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike recently hosted suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for a dinner in the United Kingdom. This gathering occurred amid ongoing political tensions following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, which led to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the assembly members.

The lawmakers, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, are in the UK for a “Legislative Capacity Building” program. Wike’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the dinner, stating: “Yesterday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, hosted Rivers State House of Assembly members who are in the United Kingdom for Legislative Capacity Building, to a dinner.”

This event has sparked discussions about the political dynamics between Wike and the suspended Rivers lawmakers, especially considering the current emergency rule in their home state.
