Troops Launch Operation Munzo: Terror Kingpin Neutralized
The Nigerian military has launched “Operation Munzo” in Zamfara State, successfully targeting the notorious terrorist leader known as Mati and his group. The operation resulted in the neutralization of Mati and several of his fighters, the recovery of various weapons, and the destruction of their encampments.
Key outcomes of Operation Munzo include:
- Neutralization of Terrorists: Troops eliminated scores of terrorists, including the leader Mati, during clashes in the Mati Forest area.
- Weaponry Seized: Recovered items encompass one PKT rifle with two belts and 90 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, five AK-47 rifles, 12 magazines containing 487 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, three Baofeng radios with chargers, military and police uniforms, and the destruction of three motorcycles belonging to the terrorists.
- Operational Details: Troops encountered heavy resistance, including RPG bombs, but responded with superior firepower. One soldier sustained injuries but is reported to be in stable condition.
