Niger State Violence: Bandits Claim Lives and Hostages

Zamfara Bandits Strike: 2 Dead, 60 Abducted in Retaliation

In recent developments, bandits have launched a series of attacks on communities in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and the abduction of over 60 others. These assaults are believed to be retaliatory actions following the recent killings of prominent bandit leaders by security forces.

One of the slain leaders, Kachalla Yellow, was killed by security operatives in a forest near Bawa Kwanga village. Another unnamed bandit leader was also reportedly killed around the same time in the area. In apparent retaliation, gunmen loyal to these leaders intensified attacks.

On Sunday, bandits struck Gidan Arne village, killing two residents and injuring another. About 40 women were abducted, and several homes were set ablaze. That same day, Keta community suffered another assault in which one person was killed, 11 vehicles were torched, and shops looted.
