Shocking Discovery: Decomposing Bodies in Ondo River
Residents of Odigbo community in Ondo State are in shock following the discovery of three headless, decomposing bodies floating in a river along the Odigbo-Ore Old Road. The grim find was made by locals on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, causing widespread panic and concern.
Eyewitnesses suggest that the victims were likely murdered elsewhere and their bodies dumped in the river. A community youth leader, identified as Sileola, expressed his dismay:
“I was shocked when I first heard about it over the phone. I rushed to the scene, hoping to identify the victims through their clothing or any other means, but all efforts proved abortive.”
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident. Spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade stated that upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Ore Division mobilized detectives to the scene. The bodies were subsequently recovered and transported to the morgue at the General Hospital. Community leaders and residents have been urged to assist in identifying the victims, but so far, no reports of missing persons have been filed in connection with the discovery.
The lack of identification has led authorities to believe that the bodies may have been transported from another location and disposed of in the river. Investigations are ongoing, and residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
