Cops Shoot 90s Rocker's Wife After Car Chase Incident

Scott Shriner’s Wife Charged with Attempted Murder

Jillian Lauren, a true-crime author and wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot and arrested by Los Angeles police on April 8, 2025. The incident began when LAPD officers were searching for suspects involved in a hit-and-run in the Eagle Rock neighborhood.

During their search, they encountered Lauren, 51, outside her home, armed with a handgun. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, she allegedly pointed it at officers, prompting them to open fire and strike her in the shoulder.

Lauren retreated into her home but later emerged with the family babysitter and was taken into custody. She was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently charged with attempted murder. Authorities confirmed she was not connected to the initial hit-and-run incident.

Jillian Lauren is known for her memoirs and work on serial killer Samuel Little, which gained public attention through the Starz docuseries “Confronting a Serial Killer” and her book “Behold the Monster.”

The incident occurred just days before Weezer’s scheduled performance at the Coachella music festival. Neither Lauren nor the band has issued public statements regarding the situation.
