Swatting Call Targets Rapper Nicki Minaj: Details Inside
Nicki Minaj was reportedly the target of a swatting incident at her Hidden Hills, California, residence on Wednesday evening, April 9, 2025. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, they received a call at 7:05 p.m. reporting an assault with a deadly weapon, claiming a friend had shot a Black female adult and that two suspects were present at the location wearing all black. Deputies responded to the scene but found no evidence of a crime, determining the report to be a false alarm.
This incident marks at least the third time Minaj has been targeted by swatting calls. In June 2023, authorities responded to a false report of child abuse at her home, and a month later, another false report claimed a shooting had occurred at her residence. Swatting, the act of making a false emergency call to elicit a large police response, has become an increasing concern, particularly in Southern California.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department noted that the call regarding Minaj’s residence came in on a business line, a common tactic used in swatting incidents to make it more challenging to trace the caller’s identity. They also mentioned that credible reports of violence typically result in multiple 911 calls, which was not the case in this incident.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the false report. Swatting is considered a serious offense, as it not only wastes law enforcement resources but also poses potential dangers to the targeted individuals and responding officers.
