Major Drug Bust: Navy Detains 27 in Apapa

On April 5, 2025, operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT conducted a coordinated raid on a known drug enclave, Gidan Drama, located along Malu Road in Apapa, Lagos. This operation led to the arrest of 27 suspected drug peddlers, comprising 24 males and 3 females.

The raid was initiated following credible intelligence regarding the presence of suspected drug dealers in the area. The successful apprehension of these individuals underscores the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to combating the proliferation and abuse of illicit substances, particularly among the youth.

The Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Paul Ponfa Nimmyel, represented by the Base Executive Officer, Captain Idongesit Udoessien, emphasized the importance of this operation in addressing drug-related activities that negatively impact public health and national security. The arrested suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
