Eric Dane Reveals ALS Diagnosis: A Personal Journey
Eric Dane, the 52-year-old actor renowned for his roles in “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Euphoria,” has publicly disclosed that he has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Despite the challenges posed by ALS—a progressive neurodegenerative condition that impairs muscle control—Dane remains committed to his acting career. He plans to return to the set of HBO’s “Euphoria” next week, where he portrays Cal Jacobs.
Dane expressed gratitude for the support of his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters, Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13. He has requested privacy for his family during this challenging time.
ALS affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness and, eventually, paralysis. There is currently no cure, and the average life expectancy post-diagnosis is two to five years.
