FBI Arrests Nigerian for Forging Academic Records

Nigerian Arrested by FBI for University Admission Fraud

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested 24-year-old Nigerian national, Mercy Ojedeji, for forging academic documents to gain admission into the University of Missouri in St. Louis County, USA.

Investigations revealed that Ojedeji falsified various documents, including academic transcripts, a resume, letters of recommendation, and an English language proficiency report, to secure admission into a PhD program in Chemistry. These fraudulent credentials enabled him to obtain a tuition waiver valued at $49,000, along with stipends and other benefits.

After enrolling in the program in Fall 2023, Ojedeji reportedly began skipping classes, failed to fulfill his assistantship duties, and did not join any research group. These actions led to his expulsion from the university in February 2024 and the subsequent revocation of his student visa.
