This action aligns with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017. The affected markets are:

Tokunbo Wahab, the State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, emphasized that these closures aim to safeguard public health and restore order to public spaces. He called on market stakeholders to take responsibility for proper waste management to prevent future violations.
