Sudan War: Over 1000 Sudanese Refugees Arrive in Europe
In the first quarter of 2025, over 1,000 Sudanese refugees attempted or successfully reached Europe, marking a 38% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
This surge is primarily attributed to the ongoing conflict between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces, which has led to approximately 12 million displaced individuals, creating one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises.
Many refugees are stranded in neighboring countries like Egypt and Chad, facing reduced humanitarian aid. Desperation is driving some to undertake perilous journeys across the Mediterranean. The UN warns that without increased support and conflict resolution, more individuals may risk these dangerous crossings.
