A 23-year-old nursing mother, identified as Ella Samuel, was arrested by the Edo State Police Command for allegedly receiving stolen money from her boyfriend, who is reportedly the leader of an armed robbery gang.
The arrest followed investigations into a series of armed robberies in Benin City, including an incident where the gang stole an ATM machine and transferred ₦460,000 from a victim’s account.
The stolen funds were traced to Samuel’s bank account. She was apprehended at a hotel in Delta State, though her boyfriend managed to evade capture.
Further investigations revealed that Samuel has four children, each with different men who are notorious criminals currently wanted by the police.
The Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
