Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) and the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army have arrested two notorious kidnap kingpins in Plateau State.
The suspects, Mohammed Musa (also known as Mamman) and Mallam Alhassan Samaila, were captured during a special operation codenamed “Operation Golden Peace” in Bassa Local Government Area.
During the operation, security agencies recovered 439 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition concealed inside a 4-litre engine oil gallon.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects disguised themselves as transporters to convey the ammunition to bandits in Plateau, Kaduna, and Zamfara States.
The suspects are currently making useful confessions, and follow-on operations are being conducted to capture other members of the criminal syndicate and recover more arms and ammunition.
