On April 2, 2025, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) apprehended 51 Malian nationals in New Nyanya, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, for lacking valid travel documents or residence permits.
The group comprises 40 males and 11 females, aged between 17 and 25. Preliminary investigations suggest that many may have been victims of human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
The individuals are currently in NIS custody, undergoing further profiling and investigation.
