Nationwide Strike by ASUP: What You Need to Know Before December 2
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has announced plans to embark on a nationwide strike beginning December 2, 2024.
This decision follows unresolved disputes with the Federal Government over issues such as revitalization of infrastructure through the NEEDS Assessment intervention, implementation of promotions in state institutions, payment of salary arrears, and other welfare concerns for academic staff in polytechnics.
ASUP initially issued a 15-day ultimatum in October but deferred the strike after a meeting with stakeholders on October 23, where resolutions and an action plan were developed.
The union has stated that the strike will proceed if the government fails to implement the agreed action plan on the 11 listed demands.
