Oluyede Takes Charge: Reps Confirm New Army Chief Role
The House of Representatives has officially confirmed Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the Chief of Army Staff.
His confirmation follows a recommendation from a special ad-hoc committee tasked with assessing his qualifications, leadership capabilities, and professional record.
President Bola Tinubu had initially appointed Oluyede in an acting capacity after the death of the former army chief, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, earlier this month.
During the screening process, Oluyede was praised for his strategic knowledge, experience in counter-terrorism, and commitment to the welfare of soldiers.
Lawmakers unanimously endorsed his appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to address Nigeria’s security challenges effectively.
