Understanding the Presence of Armed Guards at Kano’s Royal Palace
Armed security operatives have recently taken control of the Emir of Kano’s palace, located at Kofar Kudu.
This heightened security presence occurred on the morning of Friday, December 6, 2024, and resulted in the restriction of both human and vehicular movement in the vicinity.
The deployment of armed police was particularly significant as Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II was expected to attend a traditional ceremony, but this was disrupted by the security measures.
Additionally, the nearby Bichi Emir’s Palace, which also witnessed heavy security, is part of the ongoing tensions following the creation and subsequent dissolution of additional emirates by the previous administration.
