Civilian Torture Allegations: DHQ Requests Amnesty International’s Investigation
The Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reportedly invited Amnesty International to present evidence regarding allegations of civilian torture and deaths in military custody.
These claims follow a recent Amnesty International report, which accused the Nigerian military of being responsible for numerous human rights abuses, including torture and the deaths of detainees under harsh conditions, particularly in the context of the fight against Boko Haram.
