Abuja to Accra Flight Scare: NSIB Launches Urgent Probe
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation into a serious incident involving a Fly Bird HS 125 aircraft on a flight from Abuja to Accra on December 6, 2024.
The aircraft, with three crew members and one passenger on board, experienced technical issues mid-flight.
Initially, engine number two showed indication issues, prompting the crew to decide on a return to Abuja. During the descent, engine number two failed completely, and subsequently, engine number one also failed as the aircraft neared Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
Despite these challenges, the crew successfully landed the aircraft safely, with no injuries reported.
NSIB is analyzing flight data, conducting interviews, and reviewing maintenance records to identify the causes of the incident.
The Bureau aims to enhance aviation safety and prevent future occurrences through this investigation.
