Former Minister Rotimi Amaechi Critiques Nigerian National Response

State of the Nation: Rotimi Amaechi’s View on Nigerian Inaction

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed his frustration with Nigerians’ perceived inaction amidst the country’s severe economic hardships.

In a recent interview, he criticized the lack of protests or vocal opposition to the political class, despite widespread poverty, high fuel prices, and unaffordable basic necessities.

Amaechi suggested that citizens should send a message by refusing to participate in elections until their needs are addressed.

Highlighting the struggles of everyday Nigerians, he noted ironically that walking due to unaffordable transportation is now a necessity for many, which he quipped could “help the heart.”

He also questioned the relevance of ongoing political campaigns, particularly in Edo State, given the prevailing economic challenges.
