Snake in the Bed: Unexpected Bite as Woman Fluffs Pillows

Shocking Encounter: Woman Bitten by Snake Hidden in Bed During Pillow Fluffing

In Oklahoma, a woman named Donna Bratschun experienced a startling encounter when a snake, seeking warmth, hid under her pillow and bit her as she was preparing for bed.

Although the bite left teeth marks and tenderness, it did not break the skin. Her husband identified the intruder as a non-venomous bull snake, common in their area, and safely removed it from their home.

Wildlife specialist Kayla Jobe explained that during colder months, snakes like bull snakes often seek indoor shelter to regulate their body temperature, as they cannot do so independently.

They can enter homes through openings as small as an inch wide.

This incident is not isolated; similar occurrences have been reported elsewhere. For instance, in Stellenbosch, South Africa, a man found a highly venomous cape cobra under his pillow.

A professional snake catcher was called to safely remove the snake.

These events highlight the importance of being vigilant, especially during colder seasons when snakes may seek warmth indoors.

Homeowners are advised to seal potential entry points and inspect bedding and other areas where snakes might hide.
