Police Officer in Ogun Ablaze: Search for Fleeing Wife Underway
A distressing incident occurred in Iperu, Ogun State, where a woman named Sarah Ayinde allegedly set her husband, Abidemi Ayinde, ablaze following a domestic dispute.
Abidemi, a special constable with the Ogun State Police Command, sustained severe burns and is currently receiving treatment at Bolawatife Hospital, where his condition is reported as stable.
The altercation took place on December 12, 2024, at their residence on Igboore Street. According to reports, a minor disagreement escalated, leading Sarah to douse her husband with a flammable substance before igniting it.
She fled the scene immediately after the act and remains at large. The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt to apprehend her, with the division’s crime branch actively investigating the case.
This incident highlights a troubling pattern of domestic violence in Ogun State. In a separate case last month, a man named Olubunmi Johnson was arrested for allegedly setting his wife, Kikelomo, on fire in their apartment following a domestic dispute.
These cases underscore the urgent need for increased awareness and intervention strategies to address domestic violence in the region.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on Sarah Ayinde’s whereabouts to come forward to aid in her swift apprehension.
