Lagos Bust: NAFDAC Seizes Unregistered Food Products Worth Billions
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized unregistered food products worth over ₦3.8 billion during a raid on a warehouse in the Apongbon Oke Arin Market, Lagos.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the sale of unregistered food items, NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate conducted the operation, confiscating various products valued at ₦3,818,802,720.
The warehouse has been sealed pending further investigation, and its management has been summoned for questioning.
NAFDAC emphasized its commitment to protecting public health and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
The agency urged the public to remain vigilant during the festive season and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
This seizure underscores NAFDAC’s ongoing efforts to combat the distribution of unregistered and potentially unsafe food products in Nigeria, aiming to safeguard consumer health and maintain market integrity.
