Ogun Police Arrest Four for Alleged Motorcycle and Gas Cylinder Thefts
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with separate incidents involving motorcycle and gas cylinder thefts, as well as an assault on local security personnel.
Motorcycle Theft in Ajuwon
On December 25, 2024, a commercial motorcyclist, Adebiyi Philip, reported his Bajaj Boxer motorcycle missing from Alapara Junction in Ajuwon. Following a search, the motorcycle was found with 33-year-old Joseph Ogu, who was allegedly tampering with its security system. Ogu was promptly arrested, and the motorcycle was recovered.
Assault and Theft in Odeda
In a separate incident in the Iyana-Efon Kila area of Odeda Local Government, local security operative Dele Sosanya reported multiple thefts of kolanut seeds from his farm, allegedly by a suspect known as Lati. On December 24, 2024, when attempts were made to apprehend Lati, he reportedly became violent. During the confrontation, two accomplices, Isikilu Azeez and Faruq Azeez, allegedly attacked security officer Segun Owolabi with a machete, resulting in serious injuries. A police patrol team intervened, arresting Isikilu and Faruq, while Lati escaped. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fugitive.
Gas Cylinder Theft at Ijemo Secondary School
Additionally, 35-year-old Sunday Jeremiah was arrested after being found in possession of a gas cylinder stolen from Ijemo Secondary School in Odeda. The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps handed him over to the police. Detectives confirmed the theft with the school authorities, and Jeremiah remains in custody as investigations continue.
