Attempted Murder Charges: Two in Court Over Attack on Governor Oyebanji’s Aide
On December 30, 2024, the police arraigned two men, Ademola Egunlae (52) and Oluwafemi Ajayi (65), in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over the alleged attempted murder of Hon. Odunayo Talabi Arinka, an aide to Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The accused are facing charges of conspiracy, threatening violence with offensive weapons, and attempted murder.
The alleged offenses occurred on December 22, 2024, at approximately 8:30 pm. The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, stated that the actions of the accused contravene Sections 421, 46, and 241 (a) & (b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted bail to the defendants, setting the amount at ₦250,000 each, with one surety in like sum. The case has been adjourned to February 14, 2025, for further hearing.
