Gender Dysphoria Treatments: Surgeries and Costs Revealed
According to a recent report, over 5,700 minors in the U.S. underwent transgender surgeries between 2019 and 2023.
The data was compiled by the advocacy group Do No Harm, which tracks gender-affirming care provided to minors.
These procedures, which include surgeries such as mastectomies and breast reconstruction, were part of broader treatments for gender dysphoria.
In addition, more than 13,000 minors received medical treatment for gender dysphoria during the same period, including the use of puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy.
The report also highlighted the regional differences, with states like California and New York recording the highest number of surgeries.
Some of the procedures occurred in traditionally conservative states like Texas and Florida, where over 200 and 100 minors, respectively, underwent surgeries.
The total cost of these treatments is estimated at over $119 million.
