Premier League Turmoil: Everton Sacks Sean Dyche After Disappointing Results
Everton Football Club has dismissed manager Sean Dyche following a series of disappointing performances that have left the team 16th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone.
The decision comes shortly before Everton’s FA Cup third-round match against Peterborough United. In the interim, Under-18s head coach Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman will oversee the team.
Dyche, appointed in January 2023, managed to keep Everton in the Premier League during his tenure, despite challenges such as points deductions for financial rule breaches. However, the current season has seen the team secure only three wins in 19 league matches, scoring a mere 15 goals.
The club’s new owners, the Friedkin Group, who completed their takeover in December, have initiated the search for a new manager. Former Everton manager David Moyes is reportedly a leading candidate to return to the club.
Everton’s immediate focus is on the upcoming FA Cup fixture, with Baines and Coleman stepping into coaching roles to guide the team through this transitional period.
