Lagos Motorist Dies in Fiery Truck Accident on Lekki-Epe Expressway
A tragic accident occurred on Thursday, January 9, 2025, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos, resulting in the death of a motorist. The incident involved a Toyota Highlander Jeep and a Sino tipper truck. According to reports, the Highlander, traveling inward Ajah, lost control, veered across the expressway, and collided with the tipper truck heading toward Epe. The collision caused the Highlander to burst into flames, trapping the driver inside.
Emergency responders, including officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Fire Services (Epe Division), arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and recover the driver’s remains. The body was subsequently handed over to family members present at the scene. Security operatives from the Epe Police Division provided support during the rescue and recovery operations.
Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, extended condolences to the bereaved family and emphasized the importance of road safety and vehicle maintenance to prevent such tragedies.
