Breaking News: Louisiana Mayor Caught in Drug Trafficking Operation with Six Accomplices
Tyrin Truong, the 25-year-old mayor of Bogalusa, Louisiana, was arrested on January 7, 2025, in connection with a drug-trafficking investigation.
Truong, who became one of Louisiana’s youngest mayors at age 23, is alleged to have participated in organizing a drug-trafficking ring involved in distributing opioids, marijuana, and MDMA. Additionally, he is accused of using public funds for “entertainment with a prostitute” during a mayor’s conference.
The investigation, initiated by the Louisiana State Police Narcotics and Violent Crime Task Force in April 2024, uncovered that the trafficking organization utilized profits to acquire firearms, some linked to violent crimes in the Bogalusa area.
Truong was arrested alongside six others implicated in the ring. He was charged with engaging in transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, solicitation of prostitutes, and unauthorized use of a movable. Following his arrest, Truong was released on a $150,000 bond.
This arrest marks a significant breach of public trust, with officials emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for corruption. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are anticipated.
