Mercy Chinwo’s Manager Arrested: $345,000 Diversion Case Update
A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued a warrant for the arrest of Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the manager of renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, over allegations of diverting $345,000 in royalties from her digital platforms and events.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed an ex parte motion requesting the arrest warrant, which was granted by Justice Alexander Owoeye. The EFCC’s counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, argued that the warrant was necessary to compel Onyedikachukwu’s appearance in court to address the alleged criminal offenses.
According to an affidavit submitted by the EFCC, Mercy Chinwo accused her manager of collecting royalties from her digital platforms and events without disclosure, alleging that he diverted approximately $345,000 without remitting her share. The commission’s efforts to apprehend Onyedikachukwu have been unsuccessful, leading to the application for the arrest warrant.
The court has scheduled January 24 for Onyedikachukwu’s arraignment. If the EFCC is unable to arrest him before then, they plan to issue a public summons declaring him wanted.
