Overnight Curfew Enforced in South Sudan: A Measure Against Trader Violence
South Sudan has imposed a nationwide curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. following violent incidents targeting Sudanese traders.
The unrest was reportedly triggered by allegations of South Sudanese nationals being killed by Sudanese military and allied groups in Sudan’s El Gezira region.
In response, President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called for calm, urging citizens not to retaliate against Sudanese traders and refugees residing in South Sudan.
