Salome Adaidu: Unveiling the Accusations Against Timilehin Ajayi
Gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi has been arraigned by the Nasarawa State Police Command on charges of culpable homicide for the alleged murder of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu.
Ajayi, 32, was apprehended on January 12, 2025, near a church in Nasarawa State, reportedly carrying Salome’s severed head in a bag.
The suspect allegedly dismembered Salome’s body after killing her at his residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area.
During police interrogation, Ajayi confessed to the crime, citing jealousy as his motive after discovering her interactions with other men.
Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Abuja, was described by friends and family as a vibrant and ambitious young woman.
Her family has denied any knowledge of a relationship between her and the suspect.
The case has sparked widespread outrage and mourning across Nigeria, with many calling for justice and stricter measures to ensure the safety of women.
Ajayi has been charged with culpable homicide punishable by death, under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
He is currently in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
